In Australia it is typically funded by individual angels, angel syndicates, accelerators and dedicated pre-seed funds, often on a SAFE or convertible note rather than a priced equity round.
The median angel and pre-seed round in Australia was $1.0M in 2025 and rose to a record $1.3M in the first half of 2026, according to Cut Through Venture deal data. Founders typically raise their first cheque when the company is around one year old.
Start with the angel syndicates and pre-seed funds listed on this page, filtered to your sector. Most Australian angel groups accept applications through their websites and run regular pitch sessions, and accelerator programs such as Startmate and Antler are a common entry point for first-time founders.
